The sun hung lazily in the sky, shining what little light it had to spare on the cold village. The little huts drank in the sunlight, casting ominous shadows all over the place creating hiding places for the monsters Marid knew all too well. The ground was paved with little stones. The stones Marid called his savior. They lay over a dirt path, and were not secularly placed. Often when something walked over them, they were kicked up. And with his supreme reflexes he was up and out of there.
Although he wasn't afraid to fight. He had killed many rogue creatures running through here. He never had to before, but it all started just two years back. A year after he was born. Back then he dimly remembered a peaceful village, where children played and cats and dogs ran the streets friendly towards everyone. He had known many of those other cats and dogs...but they started to disappear. He seemed to be the only sane creature here. He hadn't seen another cat or dog that didn't have that odd look in its eyes since they started disappearing.
It all left him very lonely. He sat on top of a little hut, cleaning his bloodied white paws. He had just killed another cat. An odd purple one. It had a crecent moon on its forehead. But he didn't really even care how odd the creatures looked today. No, it was just plain usual now. It took him a little while. He had once been afraid of them all. He ran off constantly. But now if he was in need of a meal, he'd kill something his size...sometimes bigger. Like last month he had killed a dog.
He stretched himself out, sunning his lithe orange body. Cats...he was a cat. But by now he had convinced himself otherwise. All of those other odd creatures were cats. Him, he was completely different. Making him something else. (Little did he know that he actually was a cat, and the other creatures were wild hybrids).
"Oh cruel world," he yawned, "why not send me someone that doesn't try to kill me for a change?"

She's been slumbering in a small hole that was found under a hut. Tiny body easily fit into the pit and she could move around comfortably. Dim, jade colored eyes slowly opened and she was almost blinded by the sunlight. Hissing at the rays of light, Ashei'Vah recoiled to the side. Suddenly, she felt rather like a zombie, fleeing from light and all it's vain.
Slowly her front paws squeezed from the opening and her slanky form was pulled from the pit. With a delightful yawn, Ashei'Vah carefully strolled into one of the huts. As she did ever morning. She'd learned that in this hut, breakfast was served early, and if Ashei'Vah was lucky, she would be able to successfully steal a sliver of meat before being pushed from the hut. It was the way of her survival, clearly she couldn't make it on her own. After all, she was rather under-weight and small, how could she live in such a large and unknown world?
But, today a scent lingered in which she did not know. A new scent. Or perhaps a scent she just hadn't been able to decipher who's it was? None-the-less Ashei'Vah strode off into the direction. After of course, swallowing the meat whole. Carefully she lurked, trying to find the scent in which caught her attention. Alas, there it was. An orange male, much larger than she. With a small groan she stepped forward before tilting her black striped head in the direction the wind pushed it "Hello?" her voice questioned with an unknown hint of friendliness.

Upon hearing her voice, he leapt straight up from the hut's roof with a yowl of fright. "By the gods!" he yelled. "My prayer has been answered!" He landed back on the roof, but couldn't manage to keep his footing. He slipped and slid down the side of the reed roof, clawing frantically to stay up. But this attempt was only in vain, and he slid off completely and onto the ground with a soft thud. The dust from the ground flew into the air, causing him to sneeze violently until it settled back down.
Then he actually saw her, and sat up while clearing his throat. "Madam," he stated, "I'm pleased to make your aquaintance as long as you don't eat me." He cast a nervous glance at his fur, and proceeded to clean himself. "Dirty musty bloody...man oh man. Could've given me a warning before she came," he murmurred to himself as he licked at his fur. He flicked his tail back and forth in irritation at himself. It had been sometime since he had actually cleaned himself.

It seemed as if the cat's prayers would be answered. (Yesh. His prayers for a hot guy. ;D)
Kohaku yawned lazily, waking up with a thick sludge blurring his vision. Lifting a slendor hand, he wiped the sleep away quickly. "Uhh..." he muttered, pushing his body up with his elbows. A piece of shaggy blonde hair fell over his amber eyes. Kohaku gently swiped it away, stretching drowsily and pulling himself from the ground. A stream of brilliant light poured through the tear in the dirty curtains.
He had lived in this house since he was five. For the last ten years, he had been alone in the home. His parents had abandoned him, for reasons unknown. Perhaps he was too lazy. Maybe he just never found a place in their hearts. Kohaku sure as hell never found a place in their home. Muscles rippled as he moved gracefully, pulling himself into a sitting position over his straw pilow.
With a strained moan he began to walk sluggishly into the front room. The gray stone walls of his own home shined with a clean air. Surprisingly, he kept the area rather tidy. Kohaku wasn't one to live in filth.
"Stupid old woman leaving me here alone." he groaned, rumaging through the bare, doorless pantry. "No d**n food left." Kohaku rolled his eyes, turning away to grab a handsome bow. His callused palms rubbed against the smooth wood, eyeing it's perfection enviously. To be honest, Kohaku did not find himself attractive. (-GASP-) With a bored sigh, he slung the quiver of his shoulder, pushing open the door with a flourish.
Kohaku strolled along the dirty streets without worrying, his handsome hazel eyes glaring over the disgusting creations of that madman. "I wish him to burn in the depths of Hell." he spat angrily, lifting an arrow to his eye level. He quickly pulled back his arm, positioning the bow with precision. The wooden spear flung through the air, piercing the heart of a charging bat-dog. "Disturbing." Kohaku grimaced. He turned away, walking in the oppisite direction.

At the comment 'As long as you do not eat me' Ashei tilted her head. "Eat you? Why would I do such a thing?" her voice pondered. No, she hadn't token notice this is dirty fur, after all, it was normal for one's fur to eat dirty after living in wilderness. She, herself wasn't completely clean. Though she bathe herself before sleeping.
Swiftly she sat down, wrapping her tiger-striped tail across her hind legs. "Hello, I'm Ashei'Vah, Shei'Vah or Ashei if you would. You are?" she hadn't any trouble speaking with other's. But currently she had been developing a sense of being rather quiet. Perhaps because there weren't any to talk to? Yes, that was it. Then, the imagine of him falling from the roof replayed in her mind and a small chuckle escaped her lips. Whiskers flicked as the movement of her cheeks. Cats were suppose to be agile and swift, this male seemed just the opposite!

((xD No, not Marid's prayers...mine! +squeezes Kohaku+ How dare you create such a handsome devil!))
He stopped a moment, one paw curled in an awkward position and the other wavering with a sort of mixture of anxiety and fear. He sniffed at the air and smelled an old scent he had nearly forgotten...human. 'Ah,' he thought. 'My life has just met a turning point so it seems...' He twitched his whiskers, and smiled at the female.
"Ashei? Wonderful name. Horrifically wonderful. Beautiful," he said with a big cheesy grin. "And my own pitiful, horrifically unwonderful ugly name is Marid..." he said. "One name, no more. No pretty nickname either to help put it to shame. No, it's allllll by itself. Just like me. You know, I always thought I was the only actual...cat...thing around here. Are you a cat?" he asked with quivering whiskers. His emerald eyes held a look of hope, yet playfulness. He really did think she was a cat...but he did hold a flickering flame of doubt in his heart, one that had played against him in many situations.

ooc-I'm soooo sorry! It's all my fault! I shouldn't have made him so absolutley delightful!
Kohaku slowly began to make his morning rounds about the village. No other humans dared venture out on the streets. Occassionally, he manage to see a child's eye from the slit of the curtains, but other then that, it was dead. The demonic animals shrieked from the brush, sending an awful shiver up his spine. He cringed, increasing his pace reasonably. Two cats remained alongside the path, conversing in some language...he didn't know.
With a calm smile, he approached the animals, placing his bow protectively his body. Who knows if these things were deranged? Perhaps...he could try to pet them?
With a shaking hand, Kohaku began to timidly lower his frame to the earth. "Good kitty?" he jested, wondering if maybe these cats knew what he was saying. The male could barely restrain his laughter at the sight. When he thought about it, he noticed how awfully hilarious the situation was. Perhaps after-he would visit the castle? (I have a feeling he should meet the only other human! Lol))
Kohaku shuddered, slopping down on teh ground tiredly. What would the kitties do to him, anyways? Nuzzle him to death?

Intently she listened to his words, and how he went on about her nickname, Ashei. But the scent of a human came intact with her nose. Ashei had become rather used to the humans, since she wondered about the village stealing food. But the thoughts were wiped by her small laughter. "Your name is not ugly. Marid. Arid. You see, a nickname, Arid." She grinned with hope at him before looking to the side a moment. The blurred imagine of a handsome male human came into view (xD). No interest. Turning back to Arid she nodded to him "May I call you Arid?" the question was simple, and she laid it out flat without any problem.
"Thank-you.. for what you said about my name. I dreadfully hate it, way to long, and hard to pronounce." It was true. Her mother had even once told her she just scrambled both her's and her mate's name together. Ashei's mother's name being Sheevah and her mate's being Ashen, add an I somewhere and there you have it, Ashei'Vah. With a grimace look Ashei looked at him with hopeful eyes, perhaps Arid was an OK nickname for him? ((!!! Don't make Serenity faint by his beauty, lol!))

((I have a feeling the little kitties should meet the big bad wolf sometime soon...and maybe Mr. Handsome will meet the other human...either get the other group out of the castle or get these guys into the castle))
He turned to see the man bend down and croon to them in some odd language he did not understand. "Hey dude," Marid mewed, "I'm not a kitty. I'm a big bad tiger you see?" He purred softly and danced around, making pitiful little hissing sounds. "No lap cat here. No sir." Seeing him flop down though gave him an irresistable urge however. He purred. Humans were a comforting sight. Once when he was young he had lived in a hut with humans, and they took good care of him before putting him back out on the streets.
"Never heard anyone call me Arid before. Been called alley cat, thief, and and kitty once and a while. But, hey, Arid'll do me well. Now, what shall we do about this pretty human here? Nuzzle him to death?"
((Oooh. I must go.))

ooc-Ummm...that was supposed to be by Kohaku. -shrugs-Whatever. You know what I mean. Lolz.
Kohaku tilted his head lightly as the cat growled and meowed. Guessed they couldn't communicate as well as he thought. Shrugging his shoulders, he signalled he didn't know what he was trying to say. With a deliberate grin, he laughed cheerfully as the cat purred.
Extending a long hand, he gracefully stroked the kitties head. With his other, he pointed towards the castle and gave a nod. "Castle?" he asked. Kohaku didn't know how to get in, maybe the kitty did? He gave another shrug, falling back onto his shoulders and watching the lazy clouds flit about in the sky.
Handsome amber eyes followed the sun's rays. He raised a brow intriguingly, as the light seemed to halt over the castle. 'That's a bit much-' Kohaku chuckled to himself, then assuming a solemn face.
The male gave a gesture towards the gray stone with his chin, nodding and pulling his knees into his chest protectively.
